Rent Agreement Stamp Duty in India

Stamp duty, deposit treatment, registration rules and e-stamp portals for 14 Indian states — checked against each state's own Stamp Act and gazette notifications, not against other websites.

What this dataset does not know

Every table like this one on the internet is presented as if it were uniformly reliable. This one is not, and it says so. We track two dates per state: when the law was last checked, and when the procedure — the portal, the steps a citizen actually follows — was last checked. They decay differently. 9 of 14 procedures below have never been verified against a primary source. They are marked. Treat them as unknown, not as true.

We learned this the hard way: Karnataka's law stayed correct while its procedure went obsolete in January 2026, and we told paying customers to find a stamp vendor for six months after the state had moved e-stamping fully online.

“Never checked” means exactly that — nobody has verified it against a primary source. It does not mean the figure is wrong; it means we will not vouch for it.
